My Gemini Monkey

I have a very intuitive friend who once learned the birth date of my son Jeffrey, twenty-four years ago today. Her face lit up over a wry grin and she said, "You have a Gemini Monkey?" Later she was delighted to meet him. She would tell you what I have learned, that he fits the pattern. Incidentally, for those who may not know, the "monkey" part of the analysis comes from the Chinese astrological calendar in which each Chinese year is assigned to one of the animal signs, these rotating every twelve years. In addition, there are four elements, so the actual identical sign comes around only every forty-eight years. Jeffrey is a Metal Monkey.

According to the web site Find Your Fate a Metal Monkey is described:
The phrase Happy - go - lucky is perhaps coined just to describe the Monkey.
Monkeys crave fun, activity and stimulation. They always tend to have a good time. Sparkling wit and that rapier-sharp mind are their main strengths. Monkeys are natural entertainers. To add to it, Monkeys are also good listeners and tackle complicated situations with ease.

This Sign's natural curiosity lends it the desire to become knowledgeable on a broad range of topics.

The Monkey tends to get into trouble due to a certain lack of very high morals. This Sign's first interest is pursuing its own pleasure. It's just the way the Monkey is. However, this kind of carefree self-involvement can lead to all kinds of scrapes.

In love and relationships, the Monkey makes a fun, exciting lover -- but one that may have the potential to stray romantically. Monkeys might just be a bit too curious for its own good.

The Monkey's love of self-indulgence can also lead to other types of trouble. This Sign may have little self-control concerning food, alcohol and other pleasurable activities.

Monkeys must try to learn to think of others ahead of themselves, at least some of the time. This Sign's world will be more complete once it realizes the world doesn't revolve around it.

The same site says about the characteristics of a Gemini:
The Geminis interact with the environment, investigate, learn, know and exchange ideas. The intellect dominates Gemini, and all things intellectual are valued greatly by them. As communication is also of importance to Geminis, knowledge is never a thing to be hoarded. Rarely is a Gemini more entertained than in the midst of exchanging ideas with others of an intellectual nature.

Being the most versatile of the signs, Geminis are seldom what they seem to be. Chameleon like, they will take a stand, voice an opinion, decide on an option and then completely change their mind tomorrow. Nothing is ever written in stone by the Gemini. They are truly a free soul, driven by curiosity and a desire to know. They usually have several things going at once, and within such chaos, they thrive.

Geminis are bright, witty, entertaining and rarely get deeply absorbed in any one task. They prefer to skim the surface of many things, than to get deeply involved in any one particular interest. Even if they do become drawn into something, they always feel they are missing out something. Anything they haven't touched intrigues them the most.
As I mentioned, the signs repeat every twelve years. This is the year of the Monkey, and children born between May 21 and June 21 are Geminis. That means if you have a child born this month, you too will have the joy--and the stress--of raising a Gemini Monkey.

Happy birthday, Jeffrey!
