Tess Gerritsen Rules!

Barbara with Tess GerritsenLast weekend I had an experience I'll remember the rest of my life: becoming friends with New York Times best-selling author Tess Gerritsen. I found her to be warm, considerate, humble, and as good a speaker as she is a writer, which is an absurdly high standard to meet. She spoke almost three hours for the Abilene Writers Guild Annual Workshop and Luncheon and we all could have stayed for another twelve or more. If you haven't read her books, do. If you ever have an opportunity to hear her speak, go. If you have the chance to spend informal hours with her, glow. I am.

I haven't posted for too long, but all is going well. The MRC weight program makes progress, though more slowly than I'd like. Then I back off and think about it and I've lost 24.5 pounds in 9 weeks, and that's not bad. I had wished to lose more than I will by the next trip we take. However, I went back on my commitment not to get a camera until I'd gotten all I gained plus another pound or two off, reaching the original goal I abandoned to gluttony last March. I bought a camera, and I'm pleased with the camera, though I wish I'd read more about it before taking pictures of the event with Tess Gerritsen. Still, the memories are indelible and the pictures aren't too bad.

Congratulations, Desirée! Passing the NCSP exam for School Psychologists is a great achievement, and I'm proud of you! David, I'm glad you like what you bought and/or did, but it's geek to me! (Love you.) And congratulations both of you on one more major step on the way to forever together.

It's time to put a stop to this madness and do something else. Bye.
